Recording Techniques
The acoustic and electric guitar parts were recorded on the 'Session 8' editor. The acoustic guitars were recorded on an Epiphone Gibson electro acoustic, using an Audio Technica Dynamic Hypercardiod microphone, plugged directly into the XLR input on Session 8. The electric guitars were recorded similarly using an Epiphone Gibson SG, amplified through a Marshall JCM 600 guitar amplifier. One part was recorded clean in bridge pickup position, the double was recorded with some subtle chorus effect, supplied by Korg's 'Pondora's Box', with the guitar set to the in-between position.
The bass guitar used was a Fender Squire 'Jazz Bass', and this was recorded using the line-input directly into the desk.
The lead and backing vocals were recorded using an ATM 27HE Audio Technica Hypercardoid mic with a pop shield.
The drums were recorded using a 5 microphone technique. These were positioned as follows:
- Bass drum
- Hi-hat
- Snare
- Left overhead
- Right overhead

Lyrics
Shooby doo um dum, shooby doo um dum,
shooby doo ahh wah, wah, wah, wah.
He walked down in the market square,
he didn't know which clothes to ware.
To him it all boils down to luck,
making sense, and fucking up.
Open up your mind to him,
the waterfalls will let you in,
how many times have you seen him?
Walking all alone, singing,
Call it lack of confidence,
call it strength to climb the fence,
call it what you want,
but I don't feel fine.
He spends his every waking hour,
lying on the floor,
But to live and to breathe,
and to smile and to grieve, is insane,
so I just always say,
Shooby doo um dum, shooby doo um dum,
shooby doo ahh wah, wah, wah, wah.
He walked down in the market square,
out of date and long brown hair,
sick and tired of what he cannot be.
Cannot rest until he finds another,
like the one before,
but she's never the same,
and his mind goes insane,
and sings, sings a little more.
Shooby doo um dum, shooby doo um dum,
shooby doo ahh wah, wah, wah, wah.
